The vehicle wraps around the guideway and therefore it is virtually impossible to derail. The propulsion system in the guideway allowing collisions with other Transrapid vehicles to be technically ruled out. The grade separated, flexible route alignment (elevated as well as at-grade guideway) ensures that no other obstacles can be in the way.
