Siemens Transporation Systems' share in the manufacture of the Transrapid includes the propulsion system, power supply, operation control system, communications technologies and busbar.

A central part in all projects for introducing this technology is played by Transrapid GmbH which enjoys an exclusive market position in the key components for the Transrapid. The production plant is in Kassel, Germany. In Munich, the company is mainly concerned with engineering design and planning. ThyssenKrupp is responsible for the vehicles, propulsion components and guideway equipment.
